CEDAR Brain Injury Lab

The CEDAR Lab (Collaborative Evidence: Developing Awareness and Research for Brain Injury) is based at G.F. Strong Rehabilitation Centre and affiliated with the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, BC. Our lab collaborates with people with brain injuries, community associations, healthcare providers, and policymakers to understand the experience of people with brain injury and develop programs to support quality of life and personally meaningful goals after brain injury.
Peer Support After Brain Injury
Learn more about the impact of peer support after brain injury through the Peer Support Program created by the CEDAR Brain Injury Lab at UBC and Nanaimo Brain Injury Society. The partnership is continuing and expanding, with a new provincial peer support research project across multiple sites in British Columbia.
Visit our Peers Actively Involved in Rehabilitation (PAIR) website for more information about peer suppourt after brain injury and our current study.
We support the National Strategy on Brain Injury!
The CEDAR Brain Injury Lab believes it is time to tackle one of the most prevalent yet underrecognized health conditions affecting Canadians.
A national strategy will provide a unified approach and improvement in health outcomes for those living with brain injury now and in the future by ensuring:
• Coordinated and consistent efforts across provinces/territories.
• A reduction in health care disparities.
• Enhanced access to care and standardized data collection on incidence and prevalence to
better inform policy and resource allocation to where it is needed.

Navigating Healthcare for Brain Injury, Mental Health, and Substance Use
Many individuals with brain injuries also live with concurrent health conditions. Our research investigates the facilitators and barriers to accessing healthcare services, with the goal of improving the quality of care for brain injury survivors.
